Our first featured guest today on America’s Work Force Union Podcast was Ohio Federation of Teachers President Melissa Cropper. Cropper spoke about issues with standardized testing, the fight to limit new private school vouchers and various other education related topics.
Debbie Berkowitz, Worker Safety and Health program director for the National Employment Law Project (NELP) was the second featured guest today on the podcast. She discussed her time spent working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and comparing how pandemics were dealt with in the past compared to now, OSHA’s lack of response to worker complaints and how the COVID-19 pandemic exposed how weak worker rights really are.

National Council of Occupational Safety and Health Co-Executive Director Marcy Goldstein-Gelb joined America’s Work Force Union Podcast today to discuss essential workers being fired for requesting personal protective equipment or suggesting safer work protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, shortcomings of OSHA and their lack of enforcement on new emergency safety standards and how complaints about companies ignoring new safety standards and regulations falling on deaf ears at OSHA.
Cleveland Better Business Bureau President Sue McConnell was the second featured guest on the podcast today. She informed listeners of three scams to be on the lookout for.
The third and final guest today on America’s Work Force Union Podcast was Lucas Franco, research manager for LiUNA Minnesota and North Dakota. Franco spoke about energy transfer from coal and fossil fuels to renewable and clean energy, good paying union jobs and hiring local workers for these major projects.
