Our first featured guest today on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast was Jeff Stoffer, Director of Media and Communications with the American Legion. Stoffer previewed some stories from the February edition of their publication covering the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, a line cook turned machine gunner after shooting down an enemy plane and his heroic downfall in combat.
Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Rich Fiesta also joined the podcast today. Fiesta discussed strengthening social security, continuing on dealing with the COVID-19 crisis in an orderly way, demanding better protections for frontline workers and ARA members putting together phone banks to encourage voting.

Teamsters Local 777 President Jim Glimco spoke to Ed “Flash” Ferenc on the podcast today about labor-endorsed candidates winning in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, issues with a local bussing company asking for representation by the Teamsters and challenges that Illinois faced with a former anti-union governor.
Kris LaGrange of UCOMM Blog was our second guest today. LaGrange discussed union members being present at the insurrection at the Capitol Building and consequences they are facing and collective bargaining rights.
Josh Nassar, Legislative Director of the United Auto Workers spoke about the UAW response to the COVID-19 pandemic and where they stand nearly a year later, the incoming Biden administration and what to expect from the next Congress.

Liz Shuler, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO was featured on today’s edition of the America’s Work Force Union Podcast. She spoke with host Ed “Flash” Ferenc about how heartbreaking it was to hear President Trump incite violence at the Capitol, the “worker first” agenda of 2021, and the Orsted Wind Farm project being a union job.
New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento also joined the podcast today. He discussed improved technology to communicate with workers and union members through an app called Union Strong, the NYS legislative agenda for 2021 and preventing layoffs in the future.

Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale was featured today on the AWF Union Podcast. President Bloomingdale spoke about the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Building, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh being nominated for Secretary of Labor and the 2021 agenda for labor.
Andrew Tinkham, Senior Outreach and Education Program Specialist for the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel was also featured on today’s podcast. He provided updates on Ohio House Bill 6, an OCC Ohio Supreme Court win and a natural gas standard choice offer.

On today’s edition of the America’s Work Force Union Podcast, United States Senator Sherrod Brown called for Congress to invoke the 25th amendment and expel President Trump from office. Sen. Brown also spoke about the 2021 agenda of the Biden administration moving the country forward with the expectation of passing the PRO Act, passing new minimum wage laws and offering a $2,000 stimulus.
Also featured on the podcast today was Joyce Goldstein of Joyce Goldstein & Associates. She discussed the Utility Workers Union of North America workers being cheated out of benefits underlined in their collective bargaining agreement with Energy Harbor, and the union election process.
Jim Cullen, Editor of the Progressive Populist spoke with Ed “Flash” Ferenc today about some Republicans distancing themselves from President Trump and the failed insurrection in the U.S. Capitol Building in an attempt to prevent Joe Biden’s victory from being certified.

Scott Paul, Executive Director of the Alliance for American Manufacturing also joined the podcast today. He talked about bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S., reliance on China for PPE production and how the U.S. responded to it, and investing in America can create jobs.

Steve Rank, Executive Director of Health and Safety for the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers was the first featured guest on the podcast today. He discussed his history as an Ironworker, choosing to go into the trades instead of college, safety certification changes, updated health and safety programs and identifying risks in the workplace and updating standards.
The second featured guest on today’s show was Tom Germuska, Jr., editor of The Labor Citizen. Germuska spoke about the Georgia runoff, outlook for workers in 2021, Biden’s transition teams and deaths on construction sites.
