Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Rich Fiesta was the second featured guest on the podcast today and he spoke about telehealth and how it ostracizes older people who are unsure of how to proficiently use technology. He also discussed legislation affecting Social Security and unjustified pharmaceutical drug price hikes.

He spoke about a recovery fund for the states affected by recent tornadoes. He later detailed the fight to expand VA benefits to the nearly 250,000 living World War II veterans.
United Steelworkers District 1 Director Pat Gallagher was also featured on today’s episode. He discussed how Ohio’s proposed Congressional map will heavily favor Republicans, while shrinking or eliminating some typically Democratic districts. He also discussed how trade negotiations have affected the U.S. steel industry.

He discussed how Local 223 members are training to install electric vehicle charging stations. He also discussed other parts of the infrastructure bill and how they will help Massachusetts. Lastly, he talked about an offshore wind project and the work it will bring Local 223 members.
Also featured on today’s episode was Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga, who spoke about the Ohio Supreme Court, who will hear arguments related to a lawsuit that alleges the state’s new election map is gerrymandered. He also spoke about the $11 billion earmarked for Ohio from the infrastructure bill.
