United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 225 Business Representative Daniel Hicks joined the AWF Union Podcast and discussed the importance of a tax fraud bill passed in Georgia earlier this year.

 

Joshua Hunter, Business Manager and Financial Secretary-Treasurer for Sheet Metal Workers Local 48 appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and spoke about the need for passage of a Ventilation Verification Program in Alabama.

Communications Workers of America District Four Administrative Director Frank Mathews joined the AWF Union Podcast and discussed recent legislative victories by President Biden including passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS Act.

Landis Larson (North Dakota AFL-CIO) / Reginald Howard (ATU Local 788)

Landis Larson, President and Secretary-Treasurer of the North Dakota AFL-CIO, joined the AWF Union Podcast and discussed how low wages have hurt workers within the state. He also discussed the Federation’s push to help working families with the cost of childcare.

 

Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 788 President and Business Agent Reginald Howard appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and discussed the status of contract negotiations.

Dorsey Hager (Columbus/Central Ohio BCTC) / Fred Redmond (AFL-CIO) / Senator Sherrod Brown

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and discussed three pieces of legislation - the CHIPS Act, Inflation Reduction Act and the PACT Act.   

 

Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council Executive Secretary-Treasurer Dorsey Hager was a guest on the AWF Union Podcast and provided an update on the Intel project, Intel suppliers looking to build in the region and a recap of Ohio’s second Primary Election.  

 

Fred Redmond, AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer, joined the AWF Union Podcast and discussed the working conditions railroad workers face, along with his thoughts on the Inflation Reduction Act.

Randy Barnes, President of Transport Workers Union Local 555, joined the AWF Union Podcast and claimed Southwest Airlines’ mistreatment of workers and general mismanagement is driving worker turnover. He also detailed why he believes a change in the airline’s business model will lead to more flight delays and cancellations.

 

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 919 President Mark Espinosa joined the AWF Union Podcast to discuss a new cannabis law will help unions organize and a recently signed contract with Stop & Shop.

Bill Londrigan (Kentucky AFL-CIO) / Katie Barrows (Department for Professional Employees)

Kentucky AFL-CIO President Bill Londrigan joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the efforts by Kentucky unions to provide disaster relief to those impacted by last week’s devastating floods.

 

Department of Professional Employees (DPE) AFL-CIO, Communications Director Katie Barrows appeared on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how professional employees are a growing segment of the union workforce and how to best serve their needs.

Pat White (Greater St Louis Labor Council AFL-CIO) / Jason Perlman (Ohio AFL-CIO)

Ohio AFL-CIO Political Director Jason Perlman joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how the recent passage of the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act by the U.S. Senate and House will impact the planned Intel semiconductor project in Ohio. He also talked about the U.S. House passing the Delphi Pension Bill. 

 

Greater St. Louis Labor Council President Pat White appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and spoke about the Building Union Diversity (BUD) program and how it has helped women and minorities enter the trades. He also talked about the St. Louis County Council and its requirements to bid on projects.

Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 760 Business Agent Joe Chittam joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed why members of Local 760 travel throughout the U.S. for work. He also spoke about organizing in Alabama.  

 

International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 105 Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer Scott Hammond appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and discussed how the Affiliated Construction Trades (ACT) Ohio has successfully lobbied for union friendly laws and policies in the state. He also spoke about Local 105’s efforts to grow its apprenticeship program.

Som Ramrup (Association of Administrative Law Judges) / Mimi Tsankov ( Immigration Judge)

Association of Administrative Law Judges Judicial Council 1 President Judge Som Ramrup joined the AWF Union Podcast and discussed the issue of double-breasted judges in the Social Security Administration, and why the judges unionized and a backlog of cases.

 

Immigration Judge Mimi Tsankov from the New York Federal Plaza Immigration Court joined the AWF Union Podcast and spoke about the process of union recertification and a backlog of just under 2 million cases.
